St. Padricks Day

I recently posted something on a Facebook group page. The actual content is not important, the point is that I referred to St. Patrick’s Day as St. Patty’s. Now that seems logical to me, and I’m sure to many of you as well. After all, it is St. Patrick’s day and not St. Padrick’s day. If it were St. Padrick it would make more sense to refer to it as St. Paddy’s day.
However according to someone who may or may not have been Irish, the Irish do indeed refer to St. Patricks day as St. Paddy’s. Now the obvious joke is that, when drunk and slurring words Patty, becomes Paddy. Go ahead and try it put on a fake drunk accent or if you have some spare time get an audio recording device and hoist a few! OR just watch that episode of “Rescue Me” that takes place on St. Patrick’s day.
Remember of course to keep accurate records because,... my theory is that if you can pinpoint the exact amount of alcohol it takes for the hard “t” sounds in “Patty” to become the decidedly softer “d” sounds present in the word “Paddy”. You may have discovered something of scientific importance.
Now the other thing. If you are one of those people who live to surf around and correct people’s posts. If literally every comment you leave has to do with correcting something someone else has said. Then please feel free to DIE, DIE, HURRY UP AND DIE!!!!!
Have a happy and safe St. Patrick’s Day..
